Mac Web Site Authoring Launch Pad

How to Transfer Your HTML Files for Your Web Site
Mac Users - Anarchie FTP Client

Wherever you see "your_login", substitute your own login name (NOT your entire e-mail address!)

1) Connect as normal with Config PPP/PPP/Remote Access.

2) Open Anarchie (BTW- Anarchie has been renamed Interarchy and it has it's own web site: http:// www.interarchy.com). If this is the first time using Anarchie, you'll be asked to configure settings.

3) Under the FTP menu, select "Get" or "FTP". Fill in the following:
Machine: <machine>.lmi.net [NOTE: When your account is set up we will let you know which machine your pages are hosted on (i.e. spider.lmi.net, or happy.lmi.net, or blackbass.lmi.net, etc.)]
Path: (leave blank)
Username: your_login
Password: your_password
-then hit the List button

4) You will get a listing of your own directory (/usr/home/your_login). In that directory you will see a directory called www. In that directory is another directory called docs. In the docs directory is where you should put your HTML files and graphics.

5) Now you can upload your HTML and GIF files to your www/docs directory. Name your home page "index.html" so it will load by default. If you are using System 7.5 or later, you can just drag files from your own desktop right into the Anarchie window, into your www directory. Otherwise, use the "Put" command (also under the FTP menu).

6) Your URL will be: http://www.(your-domain-name) (i.e. http://www.company.com)

Important notes about file naming conventions: All files names are case-sensitive under Unix. Index.html is NOT the same as index.html. Standard convention is to use all lowercase file names. All HTML files _must_ have the extension ".html" or ".htm" at the end for them to work. Also, if you are authoring on your Mac locally, remember not to use spaces in file or folder names--UNIX can't handle that, so it would not work once you transfer the files.
